3 Ryo/Edo fanart recs

g_uavaMildly obsessed with the Ryo/Edo fanart of Keitsuki and these three pieces are among my favourites. While they're similar in obscuring Ryo and Edo's faces, each expresses a different aspect of the ship's power dynamics. In sum, the first presents Edo as the emotionally stronger one, the second Ryo as the physically more powerful, and the third offers a vision of them as true equals in the post-canon future.
Below, a brief description of each fanart along with my interpretation.
01. Picture 03 of this compilation | Twitter mirror - Ryo and Edo embracing each other with Ryo laying his head on Edo's shoulder. We see Edo's back and Ryo's arms holding tight. The smallness of Edo, and Ryo's vulnerability, emphasise Edo's great inner strength that Ryo might have relied on when they were each other's only companions in canon. A layer of irony from Ryo in his Hell Kaiser coat that he started wearing after his crushing defeat at Edo's hands that brought him low, yet allowed him to be honest about his weaknesses and so embrace them.
02. Picture 04 of this compilation | Twitter mirror - Ryo kissing Edo against a door. We see Ryo's back instead and him caging Edo in with his arms, highlighting the stark difference in their height and size. How small Edo is, and that Ryo could physically intimidate and overpower him if he wanted to.
03. Picture 01 of this compilation | Twitter mirror - Ryo carrying a bouquet of roses and bending to kiss Edo who is in the driver's seat of a car. This scenario is likely to be set after canon when Edo is old enough to hold a driver's license. They appear as equal partners with the neutralising of not just their height difference, but also their age difference as Edo adopts the marker of growing maturity in his ability to drive a car which could also be taken to mark his professional success if we take the car as his own (I do, in the fics I've written inspired by this art in particular). We can also infer some emotional growth in Ryo in bringing Edo flowers and adding a splash of bold red to the shared world of these dark hero types that's usually predominated by dark or neutral colours.
